Kathy’s Cameras 01 – Minolta Minoltina AL-s

Just decided it would be fun to make some videos introducing you to cameras from my collection.  I started with my favorite little rangefinder since I’ve been collecting from 2009, “Tina” as I call her, or Minolta Minoltina AL-s.  Enjoy!

What a great camera! I hear, but I can’t confirm, that keeping your selenium meter in the dark when not needed will cause it to last much longer. I do notice that the selenium meters almost always work in the old cameras I buy when they arrived covered — in a bag, or in a case, or whatever — and it’s 50/50 if they arrive uncovered.

  2. That’s interesting Jim. I’ve thought the same myself…kinda makes sense, if the reactive nature of selenium has a “life” per-se. I guess that could be one reason this one still worked…I did receive it in the original case, as I said in the video. I used to keep it covered with black duct tape, but the residue was pretty bad when I took it off. I need to get hold of some good quality gaffer’s tape to cover it with when it’s on display.

  3. I enjoyed this a lot. I kind of collect rangefinders but I don’t have this one yet. Nice to see you’re happy with Tina!
